Frequently asked questions
- Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?
- No. The merge runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and are not sent to any server, so the tool works even offline once the page has loaded.
- Is there a limit to how many PDF files I can merge?
- There is no hard limit enforced by the tool. In practice, the browser may slow down or run out of memory if you merge hundreds of large files at once. For most everyday use cases, merging up to 20 or 30 moderate-sized PDFs works without issue.
- Will merging PDFs reduce their quality?
- No. The tool copies pages from each source file byte-for-byte into the new document without re-encoding images or text. The output quality matches the originals. File size roughly equals the sum of the inputs.
- Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
- No. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be read by the browser without decryption. Remove the password from each file first using a tool such as Adobe Acrobat or a PDF password remover, then merge the unlocked files here.
