- Is my CSV file uploaded anywhere?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your file is read locally, turned into an .xlsx workbook, and offered as a download. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for sensitive data.
- What is the difference between a CSV and an XLSX file?
- A CSV is plain text with values separated by commas and has no formatting, formulas, or multiple sheets. An XLSX is a structured Excel workbook that can contain formatting, multiple sheets, and formulas. Converting CSV to XLSX makes the data easier to format and use in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Will the converted Excel file preserve all my data?
- Yes. All rows and columns from the CSV are written into the first sheet of the workbook in the same order. Column headers in the first row are preserved as-is. Numbers and dates that were stored as text in the CSV remain as text unless you reformat them inside Excel after downloading.
- Can I rename the sheet in the Excel file?
- Yes. Before clicking Download, type the desired sheet name in the Sheet name field. Excel sheet names can be up to 31 characters. If you leave the field blank it defaults to Sheet1.
